Carson Mint Politics.

It is expected, says the Index, that in the course of events the Administration will make a change in the personnel connected with the Carson Mint. Just how sweeping the change will be cannot of course be predicted, but that this institution will hereafter be in accord with Republicanism of an uncompromising order cannot be doubted. It is scarcely possible that corporation influence will hereafter be able to repress that definite party spirit which Federal officers and employes are expected to represent. Nor yet is it to be expected that the Carson Mint will again be the seat and hotbed of political dissension or of organized insult to that class of Republicans who are in the habit of supporting and voting for Republican principles. Who the new Superintendent will be no one knows, and speculation is comparatively useless, but this much is certain, that Senator Jones has now an opportunity to serve the Republican party in this State which has been denied him ever since the Administration of President Hayes began. It can hardly be supposed that he will fail in his duty to the Republican party in Nevada. It is in his power to contribute very largely to a reorganization and strengthening of the party here, and any failure of his duty in these respects will not be looked upon with patience by those who are at heart Republicans. The dissatisfaction over the present status is wide spread and the determination prevails that Republicanism shall hereafter be the strong agency through which this people are to improve their condition.
