On Friday the 8th instant J. W. of R.., in the county of Surry, put an end to his life by cutting his belly open transversely, pulling out his entrails, and afterwards cutting his throat; and through a case of circumstances would not admit of relief from the hand of the most skillful surgeon, yet a person of that profession in the direction of his family, was called to his assistance; but such was his determined purpose to rush rudely, and uncalled into the presence of the tremendous God of the universe, that he refused his Offices, and with the most ferocious voice, and fixed resolution, said, that he would live no longer. He had for some time been reserved and gloomy, and it is apprehended it sprung from his having embarrassed his circumstances by being engaged for a relation in too large a sum, and that this intent brooding on his mind till it generated the fatal catastrophe.
