The Isley Lumber Co. on the tideflats, which has been running on the eight-hour day, was nearly forced to close down temporarily Monday because of a scarcity of logs, as the result of concerted effort on the part of certain lumbermen who have been fighting the demands of the workers to prevent eight-hour mills from operating.
Altho temporarily short, the Isley Co. reported Monday noon that a shipment of logs is on the way to the mill, and no permanent shutdown will be forced.
Mills which have resumed on the eight-hour basis are facing the difficulty of having their supply of logs cut off.
