LEGION AUXILIARY TO SEEK GREATER SERVICE STRENGTH

Increased strength for a program of greater service in the work of the American Legion will be sought by Zion-Benton Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary in a 1949 membership campaign.

All wives, mothers, sisters and daughters of American Legion members, those of men who died in war service or since discharge and women who themselves served in the armed forces. will be invited to become Auxiliary members.

Announcing plans for the membership expansion program, Mrs. Walter Draudt, chairman said:

At this critical time every eligible woman should be in the Auxiliary where she can help the men of the American Legion in their great work for the veterans and for the nation. We want to see our country go forward in peace, secure from the threat of communism. We want to see every veteran and his family receive adequate aid in time of need. Individually we can do little, but united in the American Legion Auxiliary we can exert powerful influence towards these ends.

More than 950,000 women were enrolled in the Auxiliary in 1948 and we confidently expect the Auxiliary's strength to pass the one million mark for 1949.

As the largest women's organization in the world's leading country, the Auxiliary has an important part to play in shaping the future. Every eligible woman who believes in peace and freedom should be with us. Our Zion-Benton Unit has a place for them all to serve and a warm welcome awaiting them.

"SERVICE NOT SELF" is the motto of the American Legion Auxiliary. Each member sponsor a new member. Let's get them out for the next initiation on Feb. 22nd. Let's all work to make this a banner year for our unit. Call 708 for any needed information.
