SUICIDE FOLLOWS ATTEMPT TO EVADE POLICE OFFICERS
Pueblo Railroad Man, Smoked From Cover Fires Bullet Through His Brain.

Pueblo Colo. April 5.-Trying to escape arrest on a charge of attempted murder. James Wilson. aged 35 a railroad man grabbed a gun away from Special Officer Martinez during which struggle he shot himself through the head. then escaped and for almost an hour he held off a posse of police. sheriff's officers and a portion of the fire department. Someone in the crowd managed to get fire to some thin brush about the big boiler in which he hid. and when the flames had crept around and burned almost all the hair from his head Wilson turned the gun on himself. fired bullet through his brain and died immediately Wilson was said to be a drug fiend and had trouble with his wife until she left him about six months ago Recently she had been keeping house for a man named Oliver Scott This angered Wilson and he made several attempts on the life of Scott. which culminated in Scott securing a warrant today on a charge of attempted murder
