County Highway Commissioner Herzog Runs Over Dog Near Union Grove.
County Highway Commissioner John Herzog and his wife narrowly escaped serious injury in an automobile "spill" west of Union Grove on Sunday afternoon. The two were in a small Ford car used by the commissioner in his work and while driving along the road just west of Union Grove a big dog ran into the road directly in front of the machine. There was no chance to prevent the car striking the dog and when the collision came the automobile got the worst of it. It ran down into the ditch and hurdled a fence. Mr. and Mrs. Herzog were thrown out, but they escaped with a few bad bruises. The automobile was not seriously damaged. The dog was able to limp into a neighboring farm house and it was declared that he suffered no severe injury as a result of the collision.
