Full Text

Thursday last Capt. Hammond arrived here, in 25 days from Pensacola. He says it is pretty healthy there now, but very little trade stirring; and that Admiral Parry was daily expected there, with some ships from Jamaica. On his passage home Capt. Hammond attempted to call in at the Havannah, in order to recover some old arrearages due from thence; but his vessel was not suffered to go in, nor one man to set his foot ashore. They offered him water if he wanted, and nothing else. The place seemed to him to have many additional strong fortifications, and a great number of forces.
