Couldn't Stand the Humiliation.

New York, Aug. 16.—A special cable from London says a real tragedy of the theatre has occurred at Casale, a town of Piedmont, in northern Italy. An actor who was playing the leading part failed to please the audience, who displayed their disapproval by prolonged hissing. The actor stopped suddenly in his lines and, advancing to the foot-lights, deliberately drew a revolver and shot himself dead. His wife, who was seated in a box, witnessed the tragedy, and in a frenzy attempted to leap to the floor beneath. She was restrained by friends and was carried from the theatre unconscious.
