Serious Conflagration.—A fire broke out about ten o'clock last night in the iron work shop occupied by Mr. Grundell, and owned by W. L. Porter, Esq., situated on the south side of Queen-street, between Church and Meeting. At the same time flames were seen to burst forth from the brick ware house, owned and occupied by Messrs. Hayne & Yates, next door and to the east of the above. Mr. Grundell's shop was totally consumed, and his tools and stock, which was valued at $8,000, destroyed, together with a small building in the rear. The warehouse of Messrs. Hayne & Yates was also destroyed with the greater portion of its contents, consisting of Hay, Sugar, Molasses, &c., saving about 320 bbls. of whiskey. From the fact of this fire breaking out simultaneously in two adjoining buildings, there is no doubt of its being the act of an incendiary.— Messrs. Hayne & Yates are said to be insured $5,000 on their stock, and $10,000 on the store; Mr. Grundell's stock for $2,500. Mr. W. L. Porter's building was insured for $1200 in the Insurance & Trust Company. The entire loss is estimated at $20,000.—Charleston News, July 2.
