ATLANTA, Ga.-(SNS)-
The first Boy Scout of the 10th District Court of Honor to be promoted to the rank of Eagle this year was Norris Gill. Gill was the twelfth scout approved by the court.
Norris is the son of Mr. J. T. Gill, local veteran letter carrier. He is the second member of his family to become an Eagle, John Jr. receiving this rank several years ago. Norris is a graduate of Washington High School and a freshman at Morehouse College. A member of Friendship Baptist Church, he is junior scoutmaster of Troop 95 which is sponsored by this church. He was one of the first scouts to be appointed a den-chief in "Cubbing", the junior division of Scouting.
Norris earns this honor in his own right, since he is a member of a family of scouts. His father is secretary of the troop committee of Troop 95. His three brothers, John Jr., Sterling and Marion are all scouts. John Jr. is a Bronze Eagle Palm Scout and is a junior in the Howard University Medical School. Sterling is a Life Scout and a sophomore at Morehouse College. Marion is first class Scout and a sophomore at Washington High school.
To Mr. Gill, Sr, a widower, goes praise of rearing and training such a creditable group of young men.
It is noteworthy that he was able to see in Scouting something of worth and value for his sons.
