"MONGREL."

Mr. Editor-It may tickle your readers to know, that the gentleman, to whose well read speech the public are indebted for the words, " sweet thistle," &c. (and who swoons away at the smell of the mongrel thistle)was one of the principal contributors to the Advocate a paper established at Portsmouth some few years since against the wishes and entreaties and the interests of the old republican party : and that he was furthermore one of those who aided in " breaking down the party," by supporting Judge Woodbury for the office of Governor.

It is a little too much for him, who has made such long excursions from the party. to find fault with those who may be an inch or two out of the traces.--Concord Register.
