Two Down River Hi Seniors Win Ford Scholarships

Two Down River high school seniors were among the 74 students from 17 states who have been awarded four-year college scholarships in nation-wide competition among children of Ford Company employees.

Among the 46 winners from Michigan were Tatum Theodore Eason, Jr., of 544 Palmerston, River Rouge, and Gloria Jean Fowler, 3775 Tenth, Ecorse.

Tatum goes to River Rouge High and his father works at the Rouge glass plant. Gloria Jean is the daughter of K. C. Fowler, worker at the Frame and Cold Heading plant in Rouge.

All winners will receive full tuition and customary academic fees at any recognized American college or university they choose.

In addition they will receive a portion of their living expenses while attending school.
