Full Text

Mr. CLAY.—While a large company was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mr. Polk at Vicksburg last Saturday, it was ascertained that Mr. Clay was on board the Peytona, which had just landed. He was soon surrounded by an indiscriminate crowd of Whigs and Democrats. In a few minutes after his landing, a round of artillery—Mr. Polk's thunder—was fired in his honor. The Sentinel says the old gentleman was looking remarkably vigorous and cheerful. He was on his way to his home in Kentucky.—N. O. Delta, 31st.
