We hear from Leicester, That on Tuesday last a Whirlwind or rather Hurricane, which came from the S. W. and went to the N. E. took the House of Mr. Samuel Lyndes of said Town and carried it quite off: There were 10 or 12 People in the House when the Hurricane first come on, several of whom were considerably hurt, and the Lives of two despair'd of; a Negro was carried about 10 Rods Distance, in the Air, had several of his Limbs broke, and soon expired; a little Girl Sitting by the Door was carried at least 40 Rods, but is like to do well: four Women got into the Cellar, but 'twas not known how they got there; a young Boy was also found in the Cellar, buried in the Rubbish, all but one Hand, but being soon taken up, he with the Women are like soon to recover: Some Things which were in the House were found at 10 Miles Distance; a Watch was taken up above a Mile from where the House stood; in short, there were not Boards enough of the House left to make a Coffin to bury the Negro in. -- The Barn belonging to said Lyndes, together with the Corn House, Horse House, &c. were torn to Pieces, and a Horse killed; and a Tree of at least a Foot in Thickness, was tore up by the Roots and carried a considerable Distance.
