Licenses Come But
A Few Each Day
A total of 59 applications for the
1928 licenses were received by Deputy
County Assessor James A. Howell at
his offices in the city hall yesterday.
This is a very small number in con-
sideration of the large number of
persons who have not yet applied
and the short time left in which to
get the plates before the time limit
is up.
There are but six more shopping
days before the end of this month
and the beginning of next month
will mark the beginning of a crusade
against 1927 license plates being dis-
played on cars, if the motor vehicle
division of the state highway depart-
ment does not decide to extend the
time limit which is not considered
likely. That the 1928 licenses should
actually be on all cars on January
1, is the statement of officials but
owing to the holiday season and its
varied activities a custom has grown
up of permitting a month extra time
to the car drivers.
