Full Text

The Richmond Enquirer notices the report that the governor of Texas, before convening the legislature, corresponded with the executives of certain southern States, soliciting aid against the general government, and that it was secretly guaranteed by the governors of South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida. Those of Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana, and other States refused, by letter, to countenance the project. The Enquirer contradicts this rumor as far as it relates to Virginia, and says, no doubt on the authority of Governor Floyd, that 'so far as Virginia is concerned the above statement is without foundation.'
