Contractor Carmichel, of the penitentiary, came up on the northbound Santa Fe train Saturday morning having in charge Jim Williams, who had been taken by Sheriff Dever to Bellville for safekeeping. Jim was lodged in the county jail until the eastbound Central train was due, when he and Eliza Jackson, the colored woman convicted at the present term of the district court on a charge of arson, were taken aboard and left for the penitentiary via Houston, where there were between 30 and 40 convicts in waiting.
