Paris, Nov. 14. The Fathers of the Orders of the Trinity and Mercy, that went over some Time ago to Algiers, to treat about the Ransom of French Captives, came back to Marseilles the 20th of last Month with 171 Slaves, all redeemed with the Money they had collected. Those Religious intend to lead those Slaves in Procession about the principal Towns of this Kingdom, both to shew the good Use they have made of the Alms of pious Christians, and to excite the Public to contribute afresh to the same charitable Design, as they intend soon to visit other Cities on the Barbary Coast, and ransom as many more of our Countrymen as they can. It is to be noted, that these ransomed Captives, though all Frenchmen, were not taken on board of any of the Ships of this Nation, but in Ships of other Countries, who have made no Treaties with the Barbary Regencies.
