Full Text
City Tax Collector Sam B. Pinder said today that, as a rule, the collection of taxes in February in Key West falls off to a mere trickle, and added that the amount collected this month is larger than during any other February in the history of the City.
Up to today, Mr. Pinder stated, the amount collected thus far this month exceeds $10,000, and the receipts are continuing to pile up.
"The people in Key West today," Mr. Pinder asserted, "are surely tax minded. We have not only had the best February in our history in collecting general taxes, but the sum paid for sewer service is far larger than ever received during any other February. That sum is in excess of $700, which does not look large, but it is exceptionally large when it is realized that it is made up of individual amounts of 50 cents in most cases."
