CARLETON BLOCK FINISHED.

G. Phinney's Second Building Completed Since the Fire.

The Carleton block on Front street, between Columbia and Marion streets, was completed yesterday, nine weeks from the time the first brick was laid. This is the second large brick block completed by Guy Phinney since the fire; the Phinney block at the corner of Front and Seneca street, having been completed about two months ago, and the Butler block, on Second street, between James and Cherry streets, now being under construction for this enterprising builder.

The Carleton block is 60x100 feet, three stories in height, and has a pressed brick front with granite trimmings, which makes it one of the finest appearing buildings in the city. It comprises two stores on the first floor, above which are fifty-five commodious and well-arranged offices.

The interior of the building is fitted with native cedar, paneled and varnished, and handsomely finished. The interior is well lighted by large windows. The conveniences are all that can be desired and the building as completed is one which does credit to the enterprise of Mr. Phinney, and also to his architectural acumen.

Having been his own architect for this block, W. E. Boone was architect of Phinney block, which was completed. Parkinson & Evers are the architects of the Butler block, being the same firm that designed the Phinney block upon which was completed in July and

It is the intention of Guy Phinney to have the basement, first and second floors of the block ready for occupancy by January 1st.

This will have pressed brick front trimmings and will be one of the best structures on Second street or in the
