"The cholera continues to prevail at Genoa, Leghorn, Naples, and some smaller places in Italy, without diminution. The cases at Genoa have averaged over one hundred and twenty daily and ninety deaths during the past week, though the population is greatly diminished by death and desertion. In Naples, though one-half the population has sought refuge elsewhere, there have been over three hundred deaths daily for a week past. Some thirty-five cases are daily reported at Leghorn, but the mortality is not very great. A few cases only have been reported at Rome, among them Count Spaur, the Bavarian Ambassador, and the malady is chiefly confined to the poorer classes. Among the deaths at Naples are Prince d'Aci, Duke Lieto, three Generals, and one Colonel. Lombardy appears to be exempt from the disease. In this city there have been only four or five cases."
