"Evidence" Disappears In Spencer
County On Eve Of Sensa-
tional Trials

(By Associated Press)

Taylorsville, Ky., Nov. 14—On
the eve of the trial of six men
arrested here on August 10th in
connection with the alleged ille-
gal transportation of 249 cases of
whisky from the D. I. Moore
distillery, the whisky was stolen
last night from the court house
where it had been stored. One
entire lot of 20 empty cases
were left. The thieves appar-
ently gained entrance to the
county court room by removing a
screen and forcing the window
open.

No one was on guard last night,
according to County Judge Thad
Cheatham who seized the whis-
ky. Town Marshal O. G. Thomas
says he heard noises in the
court house early today and said
he called Judge Cheatham by tele-
phone. The latter is reported
to have said he did not feel it
had to co-operation of other au-
thorities in his stand on prohi-
bition enforcement and "I am not
willing to risk my life alone." A
considerable number of persons
apparently were engaged in re-
moving the whisky. Tracks of
buggy, a spring wagon, and sev-
eral automobiles were found near
the window through which the
whisky apparently was removed.
