Destructive Storm in Iowa.
Des Moines, June 14.—One of the most destructive storms that ever visited Central Iowa swept through here Sunday afternoon and evening. Hailstones the size of goose eggs fell, breaking glass and killing livestock, poultry and game. The Baptist church was struck by lightning and the roof burned. Half a dozen houses were blown down. At Rising Sun, one Erickson and his wife and baby were blown a quarter of a mile. The wife's mind is badly affected. John Walter's house was demolished and his child killed. In Grant township a child of D. Johnson was killed. The crops were beaten to the ground in Casey, and one house blown away. Many houses were demolished. Six inches of hail laid on the ground. Robert Trowbridge and Herman Rathburn were killed by the lightning, three miles north of Erie, while in a wagon. One farmer lost every hill of corn in thirty acres by the wind.
