Elect Delegates to the State Convention.
Judge Irwin Indorsed
The republican county convention for the selection of ten delegates to the state convention was held at Cosmopolis Saturday. The meeting was entirely harmonious. The convention was called to order at 11:30 a. m. by John South, chairman of the county central committee. L. B. Nims of Cosmopolis was chosen temporary chairman and J. W. Divilbiss of Montesano temporary Secretary. The committee on credentials reported 101 delegates present or represented. Permanent organization was effected at 1 p. m. by selecting N. W. Bush of Aberdeen chairman and C. H. Lamb of Montesano secretary.
The following delegates were elected unanimously: C. B. Weatherwax, H. Blair, W. H. Bush, J. A. Hood, J. M. Gilbert, John South, George H. Emerson, J. W. Divilbiss, C. F. White, James Gleason, sr. Alternates: J. R. Cowden, O. P. Brewer, F. G. Dechebach, J. C. Pearson, R. H. Hasbrouck, O. M. Moore, John F. Soule, H. L. Gilkey, L. B. Nims, J. W. Hines.
The following resolution was most enthusiastically received and endorsed by a unanimous standing vote:
WHEREAS, The common good demands the utmost integrity and ability on the part of the judiciary in the interpretation and application of the law; and, whereas, these conditions are fully met in the person of Mason Irwin, the present incumbent of the office of judge of the superior court for Chehalis and Mason counties.
Therefore be it
Resolved First—That we, the delegates chosen from the several precincts of Chehalis county in republican convention assembled, do hereby commend and endorse the administration of said Mason Irwin as judge of said superior court for the term now expiring.
Second—That the delegates chosen to represent Chehalis county in the republican state convention to meet in Olympia on August 10th, are hereby instructed to use all honorable means to secure the nomination of Mason Irwin for the office of superior judge for said counties for the next ensuing term.
The county central committee announced that the convention for nominating county officers will be held at Hoquiam August 25.
A vote of thanks was extended to Chairman N. W. Bush and the people of Cosmopolis.
