15 INDICTMENTS

GRAND JURY

Fifteen indictments charging colored persons with various offenses from misdemeanors to murder and two for whites were returned by the Fulton Grand Jury in its Tuesday session.

The single charge of murder considered was that of Nellie Mickens in the Saturday murder of Monroe Denns. Charged with assault with intent to criminally attack a young woman on July 23, Ellis Jackson Baker was true billed by the grand jurors.

An assault with intent to murder bill was returned against William Whit in the July 30 shooting of Hiram Ellison. Ellison also figured in the indictment of John Whit for allegedly selling whiskey to him (Ellison) on July 30. Accused of shooting at Dorothy Newsome on August ?., Ulysses Reid must face trial according to the returned bill.

Bills charging burglary were returned against Robert Collins, Lucas Harp, Frank Johnson, Isaiah Davenport, alias Shelton, Robert Horton, Prentice Curry, Alton Peterson and William Smith, alias Smokey. Smith was indicted on nine counts and also faces two counts of larceny.

Others indicted include Louise Hancock, two counts on misdemeanors - use of opprobrious words on August 5; Henry Jackson, larceny from person; Janie Mosley, forgery of three checks and Isabelle Pulliams, larceny from house July 13.
