Full Text

About 30 Boy Scouts met Scout Commissioner J. Fredrik Virgin and Secretary H. E. Stiegler of the board of trade in the Main street school building last evening to talk over plans for removing the advertisements along the highways entering Brattleboro. The boys were much interested in the scheme and it was decided that some of the boys would start in today and others would wait until tomorrow.

Seven squads of scouts were formed and were instructed to remove tin, cloth, paper and wood advertisements from fences, trees, poles, stones, etc., on the highways, but not to touch those on private property. Before starting they will report to the board of trade headquarters, and they will bring back their trophies, which it is assumed will make a very varied collection.

The squads are made up as follows: Putney road - George Daley captain, A. Fawcett, Pearson. Linden street - Lyman Adams captain, Rice. Western avenue - W. Heywood captain, L. Heywood, Dugan, Emerson. Canal street - A. Richardson, Laundry. South Main and Vernon streets - McKeon captain, Cook, Madden, Parkhurst, Pierce. Bridge street - A. Davis captain, Rolin, Danforth, and four others. Foot of Main street - P. Wheeler captain, Rice, Mill, Thomas, Bolliger.
