The Elections.—From the change taken and the complexion of the approaching political parties it is to be inferred that Martin Van Buren will be the next President of the United States. We would rather that John C. Calhoun could be the next Chief Magistrate, but must rest satisfied with the will of the majority, provided that will does not clash with our rights and liberties. There is a complete revolution since the late Presidential canvass, which has come over the people almost unawares. The Whigs themselves have scattered in their ranks dissension, and the while, the Democrats are beholding things taking a proper level. The tide which had been set in motion by the Whigs, is now ebbing.
