Andrew Hatcher To Address Southern Beauty Congress

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Andrew T. Hatcher, Associate Press Secretary to President Kennedy, will be the principal speaker at the 16th annual conference of the Southern Beauty Congress in Birmingham, Ala., Monday, August 7th.
Southern Beauty Congress is the South's oldest beauty culture workshop and exhibition. Mr. Hatcher's topic will be "The New Frontier and Cosmetology," the theme of this year's conference.
The conference will convene August 6th through the 9th in the Masonic Building, 4th Avenue at North 17th Street. It will feature a number of outstanding experts and artists in the field of beauty culture who will conduct clinics and workshops during the four-day meeting.
A special workshop for beauty school owners, teachers and vocational school instructors will be held on Monday and Tuesday, August 7th and 8th. Arnold de Mille, public relations consultant from New York City, will conduct the two-day teachers workshop. Mr. de Mille is President of the Public Relations Officers Society of New York.
Nicholas F. Cimiglia, President of the Milady Publishing Corporation of New York, will deliver the keynote address on Sunday. He will discuss "New Frontiers in Cosmetology." Mr. Cimiglia will also be the guest speaker at the Teachers' Workshop.
According to Mrs. Ruth J. Jackson, Chairman of Southern Beauty Congress, among the artists and experts who will appear on the program include Lola Wallace Harris of St. Louis, Rose Conley Smith of Chicago, Lucille Troupe of Tulsa, Ruby Rowell of Memphis, Lygoria Maynor of Chicago, Carrie Cago of Savannah and Wilma G. Nichols of Birmingham.
Mrs. Jackson announced that several persons will receive citations for outstanding contributions in the field of cosmetology.
