ANOTHER CHARLEY ROSS CASE
National Associated Press to the Star.
New York, March 24.-N. H. Lieb, of St. Paul, Minn., yesterday visited Superintendent Walling. His presence here recalled the mysterious disappearance in 1871 of Freddie Lieb, his five-year-old son, from Quincy, Ill. The child was never recovered, though search was made far and wide. The father hopes now that having reached the age of 14, if he is alive, the boy may have a sufficiently vivid recollection of his childhood to lead to the discovery of his real name and home. Superintendent Walling yesterday received a photograph of the boy, together with a circular which describes him. It says detectives think he was kidnaped by an Italian organ-grinder or gypsies. If he has been abandoned by those who took him he may now be in some institution where children whose identity is unknown are kept. At the time of his abduction his eyes were a dark blue, his hair quite a dark brown with considerable inclination to curl, especially when long, fair complexion, rosy cheeks, dimple in chin and also in the cheeks when he smiled. He had lost none of his first teeth, which were small and close set.
