DANGEROUSLY HURT.
Mr. C. P. Cochran Meets With a Distressing Accident Monday Afternoon.
The pleasure of the bicycle race meet Monday afternoon was somewhat marred by the occurrence of a deplorable accident to Mr. C. P. Cochran, the well known insurance man. Mr. Cochran attempted to cross the track in front of a bunch of riders who were warming up and riding very fast. He was struck by one of the wheels and hurled headlong to the ground. Prompt medical attention was given him and he was taken to his home on Fourth street. It was found that he had received a broken collar bone and was suffering from concussion of the brain. He bled profusely from the ears and for a time it was feared that he was fatally injured. Tuesday afternoon, however, his condition showed decided improvement and the chances for his recovery are considered good. No blame attaches to anyone for the accident, which was entirely unavoidable.
