Tried to Commit Suicide.

A yellow-haired denizen of one of the most fashionable and popular houses of prostitution in this city, attempted to commit suicide a few nights since. She had been deserted by her "fancy man," who had gone off to the embraces of a rival courtesan, and so constant was the attachment she felt for the faithless fellow, the deserted one could not endure the slight. Procuring some Laudanum from another abandoned inmate, she swallowed it, and announced her intention of self-destruction. Before it had any fatal effect, however, a physician was sent for, and the fluid was pumped from the stomach. Her truant "fancy man" hearing of the devotion of his mistress at once sought her, and confessing his error, was forgiven and taken under her patronage again.—A tragedy nipped in the bud.
