The Lewisburg Chronicle.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 1855.
Union County.--State Treasury.
From the Report of Hon. E. Banks, Auditor General, for 1854, we learn that there has been paid into the State Treasury from Union county, in one year, as follows:
Tax on stock of Lewisburg Savings Institution, $270 72
Tax on Real and Pers. Estate, H Solomon, Tr, 16,242 13
do Lewisburg Bridge Company 44 41
Tax [something] Total 22,093 80
& White Deer Turnpike 2,000 00--5,050 90
Excess of Payments 17,002 90
Thus it appears that Union county has contributed over Seventeen Thousand Dollars into the State Treasury more than she received from it. As, moreover, she has no Member in either branch of the Legislature, it is but a just appreciation of her rights to give her a State Treasurer and other little stations of responsibility that pay reasonably well.
| Paid to Union county, as follows: | |
| Pensions | $0.00 |
| Common Schools | 2,080.44 |
| John M. Baum, advertising | 92.00 |
| H. Solomon, Abatement State Tax | $12.10 |
| Jacob Martin, Mercantile Appraiser, 1852 | 6.56 |
| A. Kleckner, Treasurer of Sugar Valley |
