FIRE IN N. Y. SUN OFFICE

Press Room and Stock of Paper Damaged by Blaze.

New York, Aug. 7.-The press room of the New York Sun was badly damaged last night by a blaze of unknown origin, which crippled the machinery to such an extent that it was impossible to run off the morning edition on it.

A stock of paper valued at several thousand dollars was so badly damaged it will be virtually impossible to salvage any of it.

The fire created much excitement in the Sun building, employees of the newspaper rushing to the street when there was believed to be danger of the fire spreading to the upper floors.

The Sun was purchased recently by Frank A. Munsey and amalgamated with the New York Press, a Munsey holding.
