Poetic Thoughts
By MORRIS GIBBS, Sr.
Can't Take It
So many people can tease someone else,
But can't take it when the case is reversed,
For they soon forget what was rehearsed,
That it was in fun but they make it appear worse.
Now a good sport is one of those
Who never thinks someone is ready to step on their toes,
For carrying our feelings upon our sleeves,
Makes us as miserable as a dog with fleas.
You'll also notice by those who do
Make it a practice to always tease you,
If they find out you're weak and will fall.
Then at your expense, they prepare for a ball.
Many people in defeat often prove,
That they're better sports when in a groove
For the sportsmanlike way in which they leave no doubt,
They still can be good fellows even though put to rout.
So control yourself in all you do,
If you can't take kidding through and through.
Don't hand it out or else prepare to pay,
The agony of one who can't take it the right way.
