"Important Document.--It is known to a few persons, says the Philadelphia Saturday Courier, that five days before Gen. Jackson closed his earthly career, he signed a document which he had carefully written during his retirement at the Hermitage, in which is given his opinion of the military character of all the generals who served or commanded in Florida, during the seven years war with the Seminoles, which must include Generals Scott, Jesup, Taylor, Worth, and Clinch. It is to be published immediately preceding the next Presidential election."--Saturday Courier.
It is very easy to be seen by the above, that some ninnies are going to "get up a paper purporting to be from Genl. Jackson's hand, in commendation of Gen'l Taylor's military reputation. The fools had better let it alone.
Gen. Taylor wants no such bolstering up.
The old General will be so bedevilled by whig cormorants for office, before next summer, that he will exclaim, from the bottom of his heart,
"Save me from my friends."
