Full Text

SETTLING A DIFFICULTY.—A dispute arose the other day between a number of Cornishmen and Irishmen, in relation to a drifting claim under the village, and after some six hours squabbling, in the mean time tearing down and setting up sluice boxes, etc; two of the disputants agreed to fight it out tooth and nail. Early the next morning they met under the bridge and set to, in right good earnest, and after hammering and clawing, and hair pulling for a few minutes, one of the parties hauled off for repairs. The dispute was afterwards settled by the intervention of other parties-otherwise it had been going on yet.
