THROUGH PUTNAM SATURDAY
The special train bearing President Coolidge and Mrs. Coolidge and their party to Andover, Mass., passed through Putnam Saturday morning about six o'clock.
The train slowed while passing the station but did not stop. The special was routed from New London to Worcester where it was shifted to the Boston and Maine road. A detail of local police were at the station to guard the train.
The usual precautions were taken by the New Haven officials to guard against accident, a pilot train preceding the presidential train and the switches being especially locked.
The passing of this train through here recalls the time that the Prince of Wales came through on his way from Montreal to New York in 1924.
