The Rambouillet Decree?—The Milan and Berlin decrees were no doubt intended by N'Apollyon as plain hints to the American administration of what was to come.

As he found these broad hints either were not, or would not be, taken according to their true import and meaning (and there are none so blind as those who will not see) he thought proper to issue his Rambouillet decree, which possesses the double property of forcing people both to see and feel whether they will or not.

One would have supposed that after this, gen. Armstrong and the other Americans in France would have departed with all possible expedition; but it seems we Yankees are a very obstinate set of fellows, and although the Rambouillet decree made us both see and feel, yet has not the power to make us "budge an egg."

Accordingly N'Apollyon has found necessary to issue another decree which we shall for the present call the Push Bayonet decree, until we know from whence he has dated it. For the Imperial Savage who whirls his Louisa through the continent with such velocity that he is hardly two days together in any one place.

This decree partaking in some measure the velocity of N'Apollyon's eccentric movements, is made in the order quick step, and the Americans are literally

To dance out of Fr—to the tune of the bayonet, or be imprisoned.

We are now no longer at a loss to know for what purpose the tyrant has erected eight bastiles.

But with all N'Apollyon's power, there is one thing he cannot do.—He cannot make us alter our Terrapin policy.

He can put a coal of fire upon our back, and torture us like wicked boys do the unfortunate animal we have just named; by this fiery ordeal he can ascertain that we have the powers of loco-motion, that we can both see and feel and be made to crawl, but can he force us to resent the cruel injuries we endure?

A short time will determine.—Freeman's Journal.
