By an arrival at Charleston from Liverpool of the 20th December, accounts were received, that the French had beaten Blake, Castanos and Romana. One of Bonaparte's bulletins says he is within sight of Madrid.
The St. Iago de la Viga Gazette of 21st January says, advices from Madrid had been received to the 12th December, at which time the patriotic cause was going on prosperously— that they had been victorious in several engagements, and at one time took 9000 prisoners
