MORE MOBBING.

Extract of a letter from Philadelphia, August 6, to the Editors of the Boston Gazette.

"This morning's papers contain an account of another mob in Baltimore, collected for the avowed purpose of attacking the Post-Office. By the prompt assemblage of a volunteer troop of horse, headed by the Mayor—the banditti were dispersed, but not until the cavalry had thrice made feint charges on them. The object of the mob was to obtain the names of the correspondents of the fugitive defenders of Wagner's house, and of the subscribers to the Federal Republican. It was expected when the mail left Baltimore, that there would be a renewed attack last night, and a formidable force was prepared for early resistance. It was the determination to have a nightly guard in future, and other measures of security were expected from the State Executive. Binns, (Editor of the Democratick Press) published in his paper of Tuesday evening, a recommendation to the Mayor of this city, to arrest those gentlemen who had escaped from the fangs of the infuriate ruffians of Fell's-Point, and sought refuge in Philadelphia. The Mansion-House Hotel was designated as their place of residence, and immediately after the publication of the article, but before it was known to the house, two suspicious looking whites and a black man inquired there for Messrs. Hanson and Thompson. The Mayor informed of the circumstance, offered to place a guard in the house; but as there was no appearance of riot in the city through the evening—it is evident the "imported patriot" will fail in his endeavours to excite tumult and blood-shed in this well regulated city."
