FOWLER KILLED
BY FATHER-IN-LAW
Killed at Spruill Home in Pickens County Thursday Night.
Mr. Ben. Fowler, aged forty years, was shot and almost instantly killed by his father-in-law, Mr. George Spruill, at the latter's home just across the line in Pickens county last Thursday night about 8 o'clock.
Fowler had gone to the Spruill home to see his wife, the daughter of Spruill, from whom he had been separated for more than a year, it is said. It is reported that he was in a mean temper and was warned to leave the place. He returned a second and a third time. The last time he was armed, and attempted to force his way into the Spruill home, when he was repulsed with a shot from Spruill. The charge entered his right shoulder. and death resulted in a short time.
Fowler is survived by his widow and two children. The children resided with him in another neighborhood.
Mr. Spruill was arrested by Pickens county authorities.
