Full Text

From New Hampshire, Dr. Jacob H. Gallinger succeeds Henry W. Blair, the author of the education bill. Dr. Gallinger is a Republican of undoubted ability, has been a member of the lower house, and is a firm believer in the McKinley bill, honest money and a federal election law.

Senators Stanford of California, Teller of Colorado, Jones of Arkansas, Mitchell of Oregon, Vance of North Carolina, Cameron of Pennsylvania, Vest of Missouri and Platt of this state are their own successors.

There is one man in this country whose opinions on the silver question are anxiously awaited by the great Democratic party. They were given some years ago in a declaration, commonly believed to have been written for him by others; but his modern, present view, his own view, is wanted. Will Grover Cleveland speak out?
