Our exchanges contain little else than the notice of proceedings in relation to the honored Hero.
In every city, and town from which we have heard, the most heartfelt sorrow has been expressed. At the grave the scene must have been truly imposing. His pall-bearers were soldiers that served under him throughout his ever memorable campaigns, and no mortal tongue can express the love they bore him, or the sorrow that they felt in thus bearing the last remains of him who had so often led them to victory, to their last resting place—the grave. They were his neighbors, and his soldiers; his honor was theirs; in life they adored and honored him, and now that death has closed his eventful career, they will ever most dearly cherish his memory.
