For Representatives to the General Assembly of
Rhode Island, took place on the 30th ult.--In
Providence, or North, South Kingston, East
Greenwich, West Greenwich, Burrington, New
Shoreham and Hopkinton (says the Newport Mer-
cury) we understand the result was favorable to
federalism.
In Bristol, Governor Bradford, who for above
30 years, has enjoyed the undivided and uninter-
rumped confidence of his fellow citizens; whose
whole life has been but one scene of public service.
whose private character no man ever impeached'
whose political principles are those of '76, and of
Washington; has, at last, at an advanced age, felt
the usual effects of democratic ingratitude
Upon the whole, federalism has lost nothing
by the late elections; and by gaining West Green-
wich, the correction of the prevailing degenerate
policy of this State begins, where it ought to begin,
among the honest and well meaning yeomanry,
who have been grossly deceived, but who are now
awakening from their deception.
