Full returns from Connecticut show the following result: Buckingham, (Rep.) 34,969 : Pratt, (Dem.) 32,239. Republican majority, 2,730, which the Boston Journal says is the largest any gubernatorial candidate has received since 1846. The majority for the Whig candidate for Governor in 1848, (the Taylor campaign) the largest within our recollection, was 500 less than Buckingham has received.
The Senate stands as last year, 15 to 6. The House will probably consist of 147 Republicans to 87 Democrats; last year, 140 to 93.
