TO MRS. FENNO,

Please to republish, from the Aurora, the two following modest and sagacious paragraphs:

It is hoped that the Representatives in both State and Federal Legislature will be early in their attendance at the next session. The choice of a Speaker will be the first act to be performed in both bodies, and the importance of a good choice must be obvious to every one. The Speaker nominates all Committees, and this power alone gives him an influence in many cases not to be resisted. An attempt will probably be made in the Federal House in opposition to the re-election of the late Speaker; and much may be feared on that ground if the Southern interest is not early represented; for it must have been observed that the Eastern members are generally very punctual in their attendance, and it must be expected that they will be particularly so at the approaching session, to carry if possible a Speaker of their own, so important a crisis of the public affairs.
