ARRIVAL OF THE JACKALL.

NORFOLK, JUNE 28.--The U. S. schr. Jackall, lieut. com'dt. Stevens, (one of com. Porter's squadron) anchored between the forts this morning, from a cruize off Havana, Matanzas, &c. having touched at Thompson's island and sailed thence on the 19th inst. The only U. S. vessel left at the island was the Seagul.--The Terrier and Wildcat sailed in co. with the Jackall, bound on a cruise with two months' provisions--the former to cruize off Key Vacas, the latter to give convoy from Matanzas. The Greyhound sailed from Havana on the 15th to cruize off the isle of Pines. The Ferret and Beagle were out on a cruize. Havana was not more sickly than usual. The officers and men of the squadron remained uncommonly healthy considering the nature of their service.

Those at Thompson's island were in good health, with the exception of com. Porter, who we regret to learn was still indisposed.

Lieut. Goodrum, of the Jackall, informs us that the schooner John, of Middletown, Con. bound from Havana to Matanzas, in ballast, was boarded on the 18th by two piratical boats, which put off from the shore. They robbed the people of all their clothing and the cabin of fifty dollars--and gave the latter strict charge not to proceed to Matanzas, at the same time threatening him with the most terrible consequences if he did, in case they should fall in with him. The John then put back into Havana, and captain Smith of the Hornet, put 30 men on board of her under the command of lieut. Platt, and ordered her to proceed to Matanzas, with the expectation that the pirates would again attempt to board her. The result was not known when the Jackall left the coast.

The Jackall fell in with the Colombian schooner Centella, off point Vacas, on the 12th inst. and learnt that she had recently captured a Spanish polacre brig. The next day, saw the Centella engage a Spanish brig with a cargo of slaves, but after exchanging several shot both vessels hauled off. The Centella had been some time cruizing between Havana and Matanzas, and had made several captures. Two Spanish brigs and a large topsail schooner had been sent to look for her, but she "was not to be had."

Officers of the Jackall--Lieut. commandant Stevens, lieut. Goodrum, lieut. Rittenhouse, sailing master Piercy, midshipmen Harris and Robinson.
