ABBOTT LIBRARY NOTES.
As the books given to our schools by Mrs. F. S. Mackenzie have no connection whatever with the Abbott Public Library, our townspeople suggested that we have a special book plate for them, bearing the name of the giver and the name of the school to which they are given.
This is strictly a town affair and the book plates will soon be printed.
On Saturday afternoon, Jan 21, the trustees of Pomfret Public library met here, to consider the matter of buying books for the town. The two libraries were examined, and the points in which they were the weakest were noted.
At this meeting Judge Charles H Maxham was chosen chairman; Mrs Abba D. Chamberlin, secretary; and Oliver G. Bugbee, treasurer.
The books most needed by the town at the present time were discussed by those present, and Carl C. Johnson and Abba D. Chamberlin were appointed a committee to carry out the wishes of the trustees in the selection and purchase of books.
Abba Doton Chamberlin,
Librarian.
