The only error of note to which we would call attention occurring last week, was in relation to the vote of Junction City for Sheriff. The figures were correct, as will be observed, but were misplaced and given to the wrong men. It will be further noticed that the parties seem to be about equally balanced.
The truth is, that for the minor offices no effort whatever was made on our part, while the Democracy in going after votes for the Assemblyman and Sheriff got them for the whole ticket whenever it was possible. This was played so nicely that the first the Republicans knew of anything of the sort was when the votes began to come in. We actually needed something of the sort to put mettle into the party. We have had such an easy-going thing for some time that we were inclined to be apathetic, and were fully as much disposed to find fault and contend with one another as with the enemy. The Democracy may depend upon it, that we will be found at our posts another time.
