The Legislature of Tennessee are making munificent provisions for internal improvements in that State, now become the central point on which all eyes in the Union are fixed. They are about granting a charter for the New Orleans and Nashville Railroad, and for individual associations to construct a Railroad to the eastern limits of Tennessee, in order to consolidate the Columbia and Western Railroad companies, the State subscribing for one third of the stock. Also, for companies to construct lateral cuts from the great road to New Orleans, with the same provision attached. Also, for a Railroad to unite the waters of the Coosa and Tennessee, the State contributing one half the expense.
